Your initial enquiry starts it's journey at Ruscombe as an estimate on our Management Information System (MIS) called Imprint. Once your project is commissioned, this MIS connects every aspect of your job together with every department here at Ruscombe.

A unique job number references every element to be used in creating your final product, from the estimate, purchase orders, instruction details for our operators, through to costs, deliveries and invoices. This ensures that everyone knows exactly what your product is about at every stage in the process.

Our company MIS links directly in with our reprographics system using Job Definition Files (JDF), ensuring your jobs details are passed through to tie in with the job specification of impositions, colours, paper size, grammage etc. Our reprographics system is Heidelberg's Prinect Printready System, this controls the 'RIP'ing of your electronic artwork, flight checking, trapping, impositions and much more through to plate imaging.

The software engines used are Adobe and the most up to date, allowing us to handle the most complicated files you have for us, even if created using the very latest software and features available. A key element to this system is the conversion of your files to one rip'd final PDF. This one final PDF can then be sent directly to our proofer, our plate-setter, or directly to you for a visual proof, ensuring that there will be no change between outputs.

Once approved, your files are imaged by thirty two thermal lasers directly onto an aluminium plate, our system then simultaneously sends information (CIP4) directly to our Heidelberg press which will in-turn automatically set the ink ducts specifically to the colour coverage of your job, as well as information regarding your substrate to be printed on.

Our Reprographics Studio has a full suite of many different software packages to enable us to open and edit of any of your files at your request. These applications are always kept up to date with all new software versions or upgrades available.

We have fully comprehensible Personalisation Software which will interpret your databases into anything from just straight forward names and addresses on a mail out to including personal details throughout a whole brochure, as well as data specific images being inserted.

Our on-line procurement software is also available to take the time out of your artworking on repetitive jobs. As a basic example, we can create a web portal allowing any user around the world to securely log in, type in specific prompted data such as Name, Job Title, Department etc. all of which can also be chosen from pull down menus. The user can then click on the proof button and our software will instantly create a final PDF proof of the finished business card in the correct typeface, positions, colours and style ready for your / their approval to print. This can have many advantages with regards to time, accuracy and foreign languages especially whereby glyphs etc. are needed. Business cards are only the beginning, as even brochures can be created using this method too.
