many organisations have ISO accreditation, but what does it really mean about the way we go about our business?

What is ISO 9001:2001?
Every organisation would like to improve the way it operates, whether that means increasing market share, driving down costs, managing risk more effectively or improving customer satisfaction. ISO 9001:2001 is a quality management system that's given Ruscombe the framework needed to monitor and continuously improve performance.

ISO 9001:2001 is by far the world’s most established quality framework, currently being used by over ¾ million organisations in 161 countries, and sets the standard not only for quality management systems, but management systems in general.

Our certification helps us to help you succeed, through improved customer satisfaction, staff motivation and continual improvement.

What is ISO 14001:2001?
ISO 14001:2001 is an internationally accepted standard that sets out how a company can go about putting in place an effective Environmental Management System. The standard is designed to address the delicate balance between maintaining profitability and reducing environmental impact; with commitment from everyone here at Ruscombe, it has enabled us to achieve both these objectives.
Ruscombe identified aspects of our business that impact on the environment as well as understanding the environmental laws that are relevant to the printing industry. The next step was to produce objectives for improvement and a management programme to achieve them, with regular reviews for continual improvement.  Ruscombe gained certification in 2007, and still periodically assess the system.
Environmental impact is becoming an increasingly important issue across the globe, with pressure to minimise that impact coming from a number of sources: local and national governments, regulators, trade associations, customers, employees and shareholders. Social pressures are also building up from the growing array of interested parties, such as consumer, environmental and minority non-governmental organisations. With this in mind Ruscombe knew how important it was to achieve this standard as well as to maintain it.

What is OHSAS 18001:2001?
Many organisations are implementing an Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSAS) as part of their risk management strategy to address changing legislation and protect their workforce.

An OHSMS promotes a safe and healthy working environment by providing a framework that allows our organisation to consistently identify and control its health and safety risks, reduce the potential for accidents, aid legislative compliance and improve overall performance.

OHSAS 18001:2001 is the internationally recognised assessment specification for occupational health and safety management systems. It was developed by a selection of leading trade bodies, international standards and certification bodies to address a gap where no third-party certifiable international standard exists.
Ruscombe gained OHSAS 18001:2001 certification in order to implement a formal procedure to reduce the risks associated with health and safety in the working environment for employees, customers and the general public.
